Rental conditions

Driver and rental period

Age 21–80. Valid driving licence held for at least 1 year. A surcharge of 50% of the liability waiver applies to ages 21–24 and 76–80. Minimum 3 days in high season and 5 in peak season; maximum 30 days. Peak season: July, August, December and Holy Week. The rate is determined by the collection date.

Percentages apply to the rental-day value. For more than 30 days or exactly 3 days before collection, ask for the applicable conditions before booking. Changes are allowed up to 30 days before collection, excluding a change of booking holder. Later changes or a change of name require cancellation and a new booking, with the applicable charges.

Cover and assistance

Compulsory liability waiver covers the damage, accident, fire, theft and third-party liability events specified in the contract. Exclusions include negligence, alcohol, drugs, unlawful use and certain accessories, including tyres, wheels and audio equipment. For total theft, keep the vehicle key. Roadside assistance 24 hours, free except for negligence or forgetfulness. Report accidents or theft to the rental company and police and keep the documents.

Supplements and payments at the office

Airport: USD 20 per rental. Additional driver: USD 3/day each, maximum 2. Child seat: USD 5/day. First rental of a new vehicle: a one-off USD 10. Fuel, security deposit and extras are payable at the office if not included; confirm the deposit amount and payment method before booking. Only the booking holder may arrange fuel purchases. Last-minute request (less than 24 hours): USD 60, subject to confirmation.

Collection, return and penalties

Passport details must match the booking. Simultaneous rentals by the same holder are not allowed. The holder must return the vehicle at the agreed office and time. After the 5-hour grace period, return without an approved extension incurs USD 100 per day of delay, plus the extra-day rate and any age surcharge. Return to an office other than the agreed one: 50% above the drop-off fee. Interprovincial drop-off fees may apply; return at José Martí from another Havana office: USD 25. Lost or damaged documents: USD 50; keys and damage: according to the damage price list. Unauthorised drivers and other breaches may result in forfeiture of payments, withdrawal of the vehicle and damage charges.
