Questo leggendario piccolo hotel è stato istituito per una emigrata russa la exballerina, e principessa, Mima Rubenskaya o "La Rusa de Baracoa". Si era stabilita a Baracoa dopo essere fuggita dalla rivoluzione nel 1917 a l'età di sei anni. Eccola in bianco e nero, incorniciata sulla parete nella lobby. Lei ha trasformato la sua casa a tre piani in un hotel - Miramar - nel 1953. Presumibilmente ha ospitato numerosi ospiti illustri, tra i quali Errol Flynn e il poeta Nicolás Guillén; e nel corso degli anni La Rusa diventata attiva nella politica rivoluzionaria cubana e poi ha ospitato a Che Guevara, Fidel e Raúl Castro. Fino a poco tempo questa grande casa gialla vicino al mare non ha stato veramente all'altezza dell suo passato storico. Ma importanti lavori di restauro sono stati completati nel 2009.
