The Islazul Gran Piedra Hotel is located in the Sierra Maestra mountains, just 26 km from the city of Santiago de Cuba and more than 1,227 meters above sea level.
It stands on one of the slopes of the well-known Gran Piedra, a huge solid rock that, with an estimated weight of 75,000 tons, crowns the top of the mountain range and is the third largest in the world according to the Guinness World Records list.
The hotel is located within a territory declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, due to its abundant and varied flora and fauna of significant endemism and also a World Heritage Site, due to the ruins of coffee plantations founded by French settlers in XIX century.
